Sono stato in Germania per 7 anni e parteciperò a un incarico internazionale al di fuori dell’UE per 2 anni. Per evitare di dover riprogrammare tutto in due anni, sto cercando di trovare un modo economico per mantenere il mio numero di telefono tedesco e anche ricevere codici di verifica durante l’estero.
Ho trovato una soluzione combinando Satellitare (numero virtuale) e fonico (numero reale). Con il satellite posso effettuare e ricevere telefonate quando connesso a Internet tramite Wi-Fi o il mio servizio di dati esteri. Ma la loro funzione SMS è piuttosto traballante e i miei codici di verifica si perdono abbastanza spesso. Quindi fonic sembra essere la soluzione: secondo la loro listino prezzi (Pagina 7), ricevere SMS mentre vagano al di fuori dell’UE è gratuito.
Le mie domande: ci sono altre opzioni là fuori, soprattutto se posso solo usare un servizio anziché due? Qualcuno ha usato Fonic prima e come è stato? Grazie.

Do you need to be reachable via SMS the whole time? If not, I would get a prepaid sim in the country you are going to and swap to your German sim once or twice a day to check for SMS. Or use them both with dual sim, if you phone supports that.
The big question is if you want to use your German number during your stay abroad or not.
If you just want to keep your number, I would change to a prepaid service before leaving the country. Register an account and charge 15 Euro to your prepaid card. Then in one year charge it again with 15 Euro. That way you will keep your number for 2 years.
Formally, you are obligated to tell the prepaid provider your new address abroad, and I am not sure if they might terminate your account when you move abroad. But if you don’t use your sim card anyway for 2 years then nobody will care about you not renewing your registered address for the sim card until you come back.
If you really want to keep using the sim card abroad then I am not sure if this will work. It could be that they disconnect your sim card after having been logged-in abroad for a while (roaming).
