‘Madam, I’m sorry to inform you that you have rabies’

      ‘Can it be treated?’

      ‘No, ma’am’

Imagine getting a death sentence. And it’s worse because you can’t swallow or sleep. Must have been awful in the last few hours.

Either have family visit you at the end & put them through a harrowing experience, or you request they don’t visit for their sake & you spend the last hours alone & die alone. No good options

Whilst I have every sympathy for the family.

You don’t randomly get scratched by a puppy.

If you visit a country with rabies you do not pet random animals.

Gotta be the scariest way to go! Jesus it must of been pure fear being told you’ve gone past the point of no return! I’ve seen the last stages with the fear of water and its scary as hell. I pray they gave him as much pain meds to get him through to the other side.

I could see these sort of occurrencies happening more often what with more people travelling on these extreme days trips to places like Morocco spending time on a beach and innocently stroking a few local stray animals then flying back same evening only to come down poorly a week or two later with rabies.

Unfortunately many people view these stray animals very fondly and want to start adopting them when really they are potentially deadly zombie dogs.

So we’re all sleeping with our windows open in this heat I assume what if a bat flys in and bites us in our sleep and we don’t know untill it’s too late

I got a small bite from a stray in Punjab. Didn’t bleed for about half an hour and then started profusely. I thought the guy at the hotel reception would tell me to man up but he told me to urgently find a doctor and get my shots. So I got a tetanus and rabies that night and followed up every couple of days for two weeks
