Even the term “bike crash” implies that the cyclist crashed, rather than was crashed into by a driver in a car.

      Even this headline is shit.

Of course it was an “accident”, it doesn’t seem like the drunk driver _deliberately_ hit the guy on the bike.

But, obviously reading the article, the problem is it was down as “bike accident” which reads like he just fell off his bike or something.

      How about that?

The article is about the revolutionary and frankly amazing treatment. The mechanics of the crash and who was at fault aren’t really relevant here; it’s not reporting of the incident so the guidelines don’t apply.

Didn’t Sgt Angel already cover this, ‘…”accident” implies there’s nobody to blame.’

Sorry but this pedantry over a word is utter stupidity.

Accident in this context just means the collision was not intentional.

If it was intentional the driver would be charged with a criminal offence that reflects that (as happens many many times when the police have evidence of intent).

No road traffic collision should ever be called an accident, because in the vast majority of incidents there is always at least one party to blame where if they’d been driving properly the incident would never have happened.

Ill get down voted for this. But if you ever wonder if a cyclist is over reacting to a driver just remember. Cyclists have maybe a helmet on. A driver is in a metal cage surrounded by safety features and things to keep them alive.

I know there are Cyclists that are fucking morons out there. They give others a bad name but me getting hit by a car is guaranteed hospital. A car hitting me, maybe a few scratches on the paintwork. Bit of blood on the bonnet.

And to cover the road tax morons. Perhaps if there was better cycling infrastructure around it would be less of an issue. We want cycle lanes. But you see that cycle lane for 10 seconds and declare it unless because you saw no one on it. We have to dodge pedestrians, cars, pot holes, animals, shitty sunken drains and countless other things.
