Just goes to show, stereotypes rarely ever do justice to the real deal.
Age seems to be the last area of the human condition where people feel entitled to be as cruel and negative as they can without fear of criticism
>More than a fifth of those surveyed believed that depicting ageing as something to be “fought”, especially in beauty advertising, had the potential to cause harm by influencing how an older person saw themselves, or how society might view and treat them.
Aging is something people want to ‘fight’, because generally we are more attractive when we look younger.
And I know plenty of grumpy elderly people, including my own parents. It might be a stereotype but it has some basis in reality. I worked retail for 5 years and most of my negative customer interactions were with people of pension age.
> and implying many are lonely and isolated.
The ads begging for money implying this are ok though?
> A survey and focus groups involving 4,000 adults of all ages found that more than a third thought people over the age of 55 tended to be negatively stereotyped in ads
Crazy, people still watch adverts
Ageism is the only ‘ism’ that is truly accepted in society with no consequences at all.
And it’s not just ‘saying mean things’, it’s legit discrimination as well.
We should all be against it, even if only for selfish reasons – we all get old!

Poor watchdog. Totally blind for newspapers selling news using hate on immigrants. Or must be a terrified small Chihuahua.
???
So, old people are the only ones left watching tv and th eonly ones with disposable income, and they don’t like that there’s tons of adverts for old people?
And they don’t like how they are portrayed?
Come off it…
Okay, I’m 27 what is B2B and why am I supposed to understand it but not my parents?
Well as a cheerful old person that tried to help younger colleagues and brushes off insults connects to my age, I’ll do just that.
Always feel bad when I watch TV in the daytime that half the ads are about funerals and Wills. Can’t old people even watch a bit of Countdown without being reminded they’re nearly dead??
