For the first 3 months of the year. So, if continued at the same rate, just under 2 billion for the year.
> The Government spent a total of €415.8 million on IPA and Ukrainian refugee accommodation during the first three months of this year.
And that’s just IPA, how much was spent on lager and stout?
The frustrating part is that they are building temporary housing in places at great cost when they could just be building real actual housing at a slightly higher price then giving it to Ukrainians while the war lasts then repurpose it to house Irish people.
That works out at about €15,000 annual cost to accommodate one refugee/asylum seeker. Absolute insanity especially considering most are accommodated in shared rooms.
Tip of the iceberg. What are the long term costs for many of these people who will never leave state provided accommodation of one form or another?
What effect does that have on the housing costs for ordinary citizens of this country?
What about the added strain on services?
What about when those who are given refugee status bring their extended families over?
What about when those who are not granted refugee status are told to self deport and when they don’t, we just give them an amnesty with a pathway to citizenship, which will lead to family reunification in Ireland? (We did this most recently in the last 5 years)
What about the cost of losing our young talent who are saying “no” to high tax rates, poor public services and no housing?
What about the background checks that we were falsely told were happening?
Maybe these hotel owners should be made to use their profits to fund local communities amenities and schools.
Deportation flights are a bargain at his cost.
Posts like this are just meant to be bait for anti-immigrant/refugee sentiments.
I’d like to see an article which shows how much profit someone makes on providing accommodation for each asylum seeker
Throwing out the question here…. How much money did the state get for taking in the Ukrainians and the refugees?
