On the morning of June 21, 2025, 5-year-old Kyrylo Bodnaruk, a nonverbal child with autism from the village of Triytsia in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, was found after a three-and-a-half-day search.

During the search, rescuers and volunteers played Kyrylo’s favorite cartoons through speakers in the forest, hoping to help calm and guide him.

Since the beginning of the search operation, rescuers and police have surveyed 5,500 hectares of territory, including 4,600 hectares of forest. Using drones, they inspected 8,902 hectares of the area. Divers checked 12 bodies of water covering 7,700 square meters and 155 hectares of shoreline

Kyrylo was ultimately located by a drone operated by a special aviation unit. He was found lying under a bush about one kilometer from where he had gone missing.

The extensive search involved not only rescuers and police but also dozens of dedicated volunteers and over 50 veterans who joined the effort to find him.

Once found, Kyrylo was given first aid and handed over to medical personnel. His condition was reported as satisfactory.
