**Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani stated that Albania and Montenegro should join the European Union before 2030.**
In a statement to journalists in Taormina, on the sidelines of the ministerial meeting for the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the Messina Conference, Tajani said that the goal is to do everything to reunite Europe.
**”Countries like Albania and Montenegro have made very important steps forward towards membership in the European Union. I note a good political will for us to accelerate the enlargement process. These countries should enter our family before 2030**, then we can talk about Moldova and Ukraine. The former President of the European Council, Charles Michel, has mentioned 2030 as the target, but I want this to happen even earlier in time.
“We are sending an important message to all candidate countries to join the European Union as soon as possible. The aim is to do everything possible to reunite Europe in the shortest possible time. Italy will offer these countries its experience, especially in the fight against corruption,” said Tajani.

There is vital russian proxies in Montenegro from Serbian church and influence by Serbia.
Albania is free of that. So it’s not about reforms only although they are primary.
It’s enigma what will happen in Balkans as the situation will complex in the next 2 years.

Isn’t that up to Albania? I mean they need to meet the requirements to join first. Can’t do it sooner than that.

Current Italian government is pushing hard for Albanian EU accession which is of course in our interest, but it doesn’t hurt that they let Meloni put up that terrible asylum centre
In any case progress in Albania in the last 25 years has been outstanding and while more progress is needed it does seem they might be the only new member in the medium term

I absolutely can’t understand it. Maybe Tajani will be paid by the Albanians.
Just because a country is not pro-Russian doesn’t mean it should join the EU straight away.
Albania has many problems such as unemployment, corruption and crime. In addition, culturally speaking, the country is not really European.
In the end, Albania’s accession would only cost a lot of money and give the EU opponents a boost.

But if Albania joins the EU, we should then have to find another country to host our expensive and useless resort for unwanted immigrants!

Fingers crossed that it’ll work out.
