      No mercy should be shown in the pursuance of this money, they have dodged paying for so long

      I’m glad to see we have our best on the case. It will be sorted by Christmas.

    3. Just do a deal. Government takes over land owned by religious orders but used by government institutions.

      Church exits stage left from a bunch of their involvement in state bodies that they have from owning the land.

      Government assumes the debts and pays the redress schemes.

      Edit: Between schools and hospitals and other organisations I’d suggest that the state is using hundreds of millions (perhaps over a billion) euro worth of church owned land for purposes. Do a deal. Buy the land up and walk away from the church being on boards of management as patron or whatever.
