It’s important to make sure people coming to your country have not said bad things about the God Emperor himself. But also , the EU should be allowing free speech.

I have never touched any social media website in the last five years ; )

Can you just.. not? Like they can have a look at my dormant Facebook account but if you leave your Reddit off there, are they going to invest the energy to find it?

I don’t plan on going to the US any time soon anyway, but wild to have the real possibility of making a Trump-critical meme and them using that as grounds to deny you access to the States.

Also I would give them every username like @realdonaldtrump etc

I can’t even remember all the usernames I’ve used. So if I arrive there and they find I or anyone else in the family on the holiday have left out one do they send me back home?
Fuck that, it’s easier not to even take the chance and find somewhere else for the family holidays. Used to go to Orlando every year for the last 15 years. I guess that ends after this year’s trip.

Judging by this article, they don’t seem bothered by those getting an ESTA (where declaring social media profiles are optional), which is the only thing I need or want. The other half and I renewed ours in January (we were in the US in early February), as we thought it might be wise – just in case things got ‘interesting’.

You know when you go on holidays and they have those cheesie postcards of oiled up dudes or topless women. How about we state sending one to the US embassy every time we go away. With just a sorry you’re country is no longer the lad of the free and has gone to sh1t. Having a great time in France…. I’m sure they’d get a laugh out of it at least.

    11. This proposal is only for Visas, not ESTAs which is how 99% of Irish Citizens visit the US. I think the ESTA form already asks for social media usernames but it is optional.

Although I wouldn’t rule it out, I think it is unlikely that they will make it a mandatory disclosure for an ESTA. A visa is a much more serious application.

Zero chance we will be going there anytime soon. I cant imagine having to be dealing with all this nonsense just to visit a country. Absolutely feck that, we will take our tourism money elswhere thanks very much.

Serious question. I don’t use social media, apart from Reddit. If I told them that would they just assume I was lying and tell me to take a hike?

I don’t want to go to the States in the current climate. I’m just curious as to how they police this

    14. Consistent_Ad3181 on

How would they ever know if you don’t provide the username?

    15. shinmerk on

I mean they’ve always asked for your social media accounts.

    16. You’re seeing US decline in real time, like Britain it just gets more insular and nationalistic and loud.
