What a horrible prick.
How on earth could this possibly have happened? There’s a very standardised procedure for administering injections like this and all needles are disposed of directly afterwards.
That’s not a lot of comp considering what I’ve seen some people get.

That is so so horrifying. It’s insanity that this is even remotely possible.
HSE fairly breeds incompetence, heads really need to roll in this joke of an organisation, get rid of the dead rotten wood, for the sake of us all, if you don’t bin every needle after use, then you should not be a medical professional, I know this and I’ve never even done frist aid.
I’ve done maybe thousands of injections in my time and struggle to understand how this happened or could possibly have happened. It is drilled into you from day one to have the sharps bin on one hand and the patient on the other, a safety triangle, if you dont have that very simple set up in place you dont even unsheath the needle. And you dispose of the needle immediately, you do not place it anywhere other than in the open bin, you dont stop to complete paperwork or grab a plaster – you dispose of the needle in your hand immediately. The fact that it’s one of three other patients and they dont know which of them the wee girl got suggests there was 3 or 4 used needles lying around on the table or in a kidney dish in total? What the fuck. Complete breakdown of protocol. Its not like misreading a label, giving 5.0ml instead of 0.5ml, or giving an injection to Mary Murphy instead of Maura Murphy, these mistakes are understandable, this is someone who is reckless. Used needles being used again, my god.
