The fact that the expansion of absolutely essential infrastructure could be delayed or potentially even rejected due to an issue from a business is a complete and utter joke.
Good.
I really don’t see the problem with companies or people, directly impacted by large infrastructure plans, having and exercising the option to challenge those plans.
However, I think when they do it ought to be an expedited process.
Donkeys. Let’s try not to forget that “Burke Brothers, a hardware and electrical wholesale company close to the Navan Road and Ashtown train station, and its neighbour Gowan Motor Group” extorted taxpayer money by threatening to derail a multibillion euro project that would benefit 100s of thousands of people. . Vote with your feet.
> Irish Rail said it has reached a “confidential settlement” with two parties which had taken judicial review proceedings blocking the €1 billion Dart+ West project granted permission by An Bord Pleanála last July.
Oh man my conspiratorial brain just went wild there, if only to presume the “settlement” has amounted to some shekels thrown to the two companies to F Off.
Any word on a date for DART+ North. Is it still Q1 2026?

Knew they were just in it for the hush money…
Weren’t both these business subject to CPOs. I think in cases like this they have every right to a legal challenge.
Here is the report that Gowan Motor Group submitted to An Bord Pleanala
