He did what he had to do to make a psycho 5 year old idiot feel like he is the king of the world and a stable genius of course. At least it’s obvious and hilarious

America is a banana republic now

That 5% isn’t club dues like people are making it out to be. It’s an existential necessity for every NATO member. That number should surely be higher than 5%, given the threats you face and the fact that you’re on your own to face them…no more relying on the US.

Spain balking at that number is absolutely insane. If I were a Spanish citizen, I’d be fucking livid with my government.

      Perfect example of a Dutchman.

Spine is just a concept. I’m trying to find some in them from Srebrenica times, but it seems to be futile.

Rutte’s message is mental. I’d expect that level of bootlicking from someone from Trump’s cabinet or any of his weirdo Yes-Men, but not from the leader of Nato? And former PM of an European power?

The message is already incredibly embarrassing, but his saying he’s “fine” with Donald posting it is even cringier. Grow a pair, dude.

    5. Honestly, if a bit of bootlicking by some dutchman is the price to pay to influence the US, I have no problem with it

Its not like we can put Sanchez, Orban, Varoufakis or some other vocal US critic into the NATO chief seat and the US suddenly bends over

This US president is more influenceable than most before him – if we are willing to play according to his character.

Edit: Luckily, many users here are not blinded by their desire to see Trump get rekt, and understand this is Rutte trying to *manipulate* Trump, not Rutte trying to *appease* Trump. Which, btw, is the best way to get Trump actually rekt.

Qatar bought this fool off by gifting him a jet drom their trashyard. Now EU governments usually don’t do bribes, so sweet words it is.

What a faithful little lackey Mark Rutte is. **Viva España, coño!**

Wake up Europe! In the words of Henry Kissinger, ‘*It may be dangerous to be America’s enemy, but to be America’s friend is fatal.’*

    7. No. Trump is a bully. He understands only the language of strength. Bootlicking strokes his ego and makes him feel like he can continue doing what he’s doing. Resistance, on the other hand, puts bullies in their places. Americans say: “Trump always chickens out”. Pressure makes him rethink. Bootliking enforces bad behavior.

probably the most cringe message ive seen in my life, gives u a good insight of how corny and pathetic politicians actually are.

Russia, not Trump, is the cause of why everyone is cool with 2% now, and are willing to go further.

Trump was not the first president who wanted higher spending from other NATO-members, but no one wanted to spend money on something that was previously just buying more american products to help the U.S. bomb farmers in the middle-east, in effect enriching the U.S. while also helping them fight.

Now russia has revealed their true form, and we all understand we have som serious catching up to do.

Manipulating a narcissist is totally ok. I don’t get how anyone can not see it. Zelenskyy should have done the same. You can’t be reasonable with a sociopath

    11. Mister-Psychology on

Are people surprised by how you need to communicate with Trump? This is who he is. Leaders also regularly meet dictators they hate. Part of the job.

    12. aaaannnooonymous on

while writing about how trump had the courage to do what others wouldnt – rutte really showed he had the courage to do what others wouldnt too

someday america will pay for this international embarassment but in the meantime trumps herd will take everything at face value and think that everyone is trumps bitch when in reality there is no bigger bitch tham trump – manipulated by flattery from rutte and by blackmail leftover from epstein

In Spain we don’t want to spend 5% GDP to defense. If in the practice that was gonna go to I+d+i spanish and european companies and technology development I should be fine with that.

But in the practice that 5% means to rely more even to US and make them more rich and more reliant on them for the future.

Sounds like a terrible take lol it’s the opposite on what Europe should to do (european army).

    14. SaraHHHBK on

Aren’t Dutch supposed to be “direct” what a fucking embarrassment.

    15. OK, is nobody hearing what I’m hearing? What he is saying has a double-meaning: The first is just the face-value praise for the narcissist, while the second one is that we wouldn’t have gotten to the spending target if Trump hadn’t made the US into a completely unreliable military ally.

      urgh, sleazeball.

And welcome to yet a decade of terror.

    17. 11thstalley on

NATO nations raised the percentage of their GDP devoted to military spending because their continent is being invaded by a thuggish authoritarian regime that amounts to nothing more than a mafia run gas station with nukes and the US under Trump is abandoning NATO, leaving them to their own devices. Of course they’re going to defend themselves. The increased military capabilities could also come in handy defending Greenland from another thuggish authoritarian regime.

Another day another d*ck sucked. Don’t know the end game, but I like “they will pay” 🤣 i forgot Mark is from Texas

    19. In Mark defense, i don’t respect this wet fart of a politician any less then i did the decade or so he was fucking our country. If someone has to do some asslicking it might as well be the king of assholes.

Absolute genius Mark Rutte is. Diplomatic, attention-grabbing, fun. The compliment was genuine. Yeah, no, he doesn’t think Trump is the best thing since sliced bread. Trump-speak by itself is highly ironic.

    21. 1234MarineCorps on

I get that people are bothered by his messaging, but I think you have to appreciate the art. Rutte is a great diplomat (one of the best in Europe), and I’m glad he’s the one running NATO. You can tell he loves the hustle, otherwise he wouldn’t even bother with these innovations.

This guy sounds exactly like how someone running a military organization whose entire meaningful existence relies upon the Trump administration should sound like. NATO is primarily an American organization, and he’s basically like an American executive/minister currently. Cut him some slack
