    1. I can’t wait for the replies to this thread to be empathetic and nuanced as always.

“Men need to lead as allies” while also finding every opportunity to dunk on men, and young men especially? How about you fuck off Womens Aid.

I remember when Aisling Murphy was murdered, it was “Men need to chat amongst themselves” again, how about you fuck off, because most people don’t associate with the dregs of society who commit these crimes.

I know guards and people in the prison service, most people in our jails have sexual assault and DV convictions to their names, it’s not like the problem isn’t being addressed in some fashion: the scumbags breaking the law en masse are, shockingly, the scumbags breaking the law en masse.

As someone who has read a tonne of books on relationship psychology, and have made quite the whore of myself over the years: Men AND Women need to have a chat amongst themselves and educate themselves and each other on the early warning signs of abusive partners – which are the exact same for men AND women.

You can not and will not solve crimes like rape, sexual assault, and domestic violence. The chance of repeat offences for all these crimes is massive, and counter productively longer prison sentences just mean the risks are closer to a murder charge, which could lead to an increase in the level of violence, in for a penny in for a pound.

Like any toxic relationship dynamic, the only true way to solve it is to be able to identify it early and avoid it. A sad reality for anyone who has sought out therapy, but a reality all the same.

Given the population has increased drastically over the past 5 years, these numbers mean very little, and should have been looked at proportionally to population not flat numbers. But women’s aid in particular are experts at twisting a story, and not asking the obvious questions.
