Meanwhile O2 cannot even manage a half usable signal in many major city centres…

Brilliant, next step is to get rid of the class 222s and their incredibly affective Faraday cage signal blocking design.

Whelp, West Highland Line is still going to be mostly dark, but I suppose I shouldn’t have expected that to change. At least hopefully now the trains from the Belt to Manchester, etc won’t have big dead zones though?

Perhaps rail companies can turn this into a feature? Offer passengers ‘stress-free temporary escape from mobile phone work bother and social media doom-scrolling! Our trains are specifically designed to isolate you from the horrors of the real world so you can relax and enjoy the scenery or talk with your fellow passengers…’

I didn’t realize how poor our mobile coverage is until I went to Europe a few weeks ago.
Why is our mobile signal so shit everywhere? My guess is the usual, lack of investment in infrastructure?

2 weeks ago I was 4500m up Kilimanjaro at Base Camp and I had 4G.
Last year I was on a road along the southern coast of Iceland and had 5G.
This is a political and business choice, not a technological limitation.

They should just run Ethernet cables in the overhead wires
