So, what is the actual benefit of this?

I’m wondering if there ever was a more useless minister than O’Brien.
Not as in worse like Michael Noonan who deserves to rot in hell or Lowry for corruption but generally for being utterly utterly utterly useless and incompetent.
I have an EV and I don’t know why anyone but a virtue signaller would be bothered going out to get one of these unless it was just an automatic one put on a new car.
Same minister who ‘massaged’ the housing stats pre-election moves to a different department and this is the extent of his ‘achievements’.
Total bluffer, winging it.
We have squandered our prosperity.

I’m enjoying all the lads in the comments giving out about Darragh O’Brien bringing this in, when it was a [Green Party initiative announced by Eamon Ryan](https://www.gov.ie/en/department-of-transport/press-releases/green-flash-registration-plates-announced-for-zero-emission-vehicles/) before the last election.
Trying our best to equal the British as usual.
Government will do literally anything to not work on the housing catastrophe or infrastructure.

yeah so we could have copied these other countries in things like VAT exemptions, import tax exemptions, free municipal parking and use of bus lanes or actually rolled out infrastructure – but no, we will just copy the virtuous bullshit.
Dear Irish Independent – instead of the puff piece can you instead ask the minister why, with all the benefits of being in the EU is it cheaper to buy a European made EV in the UK who are not even contributing members? also we do we pay the most in the EU to charge them too – great, thanks for the whatever this is

I wish we could spend some time looking at the actual design/typography of our number plates because at the moment it looks shockingly bad, we need a standardised font like Germany has and consistent spacing and sizing,
Are standardised number plates actually still enforced because a huge number of plates around Limerick at the moment seem to be the dark grey ones that are designed to confuse speed cameras.
Thought this was already a thing? That or a trial run was done near me
