Opinion: It’s insane that an organisation has effectively it’s own internal police force, ready to investigate, prosecute and pursue damages all in the name of profit. And then it will lie, bully and PR it’s way out of trouble when someone calls it out. But this is only viable for companies because of private prosecutions.
We need to end private prosecutions as they’re a stain on our society. For every good story, there’s another ten where a gready, money hungry company or fat-cat use them to make cold hard cash out of ordinary people’s misery. They don’t bring justice any more than a better funded police service (and at least the police can be somewhat held to account!). Even America, land of the free, has banned them – why don’t we?

Regular reminder that this awful person still has the backing of the Church of England. Just what do you need to do exactly to get defrocked there?
