A rare W for Turkiye or whatever they’re spelling it now.

Important thing for context is that the previous limit was 18

    3. “Referring to Article 41 of the Constitution, titled “Protection of the Family and Children’s Rights,” the Ministry framed trans people’s access to hormones as a “threat to cultural and moral values,” thereby targeting them.”

I love how they are not even trying to justify the age limit by “medical risks” or by clutching their pearls and screaming “think of the children”. It is just straight forward transphopia and being terrified of things changing.

    4. Actually good. At the age of 13-14 person barely understands own gender, what is gender transitioning, philosophy behind it and consequences of undergoing it, at 16 usually partial understanding and only at 18-21 person can really make conscious decision about their gender. For example there are femboys, there are crossdressers there are tons of types of people which can be considered trans but actually aren’t and forcing transitioning(by parents) on them may completely break their lives.

That’s why transitioning should be allowed only after 18-21 years. I’m aware that earlier transitioning would go smoother and better overall but that comes at the expanse of all people which can undergo transition and then hugely regret that or forced to transition by authoritative figure, like parent or school workers. USA for example has a lot of bad precedents where parents or school pushes such life altering decisions on kids, sometimes even 2-4 years old, well school in particular rather on those with age of 6-7+ but still.

So indeed “A rare W for Turkiye” as other commenter said.

Yeah, let’s up fuck trans people’s bodies even more by keeping legal ADULTS away from necessary healthcare, forcing them to go through aging process of their birth sex, and then complain about them not passing 🤡

Oh, so they prohibit it when it’s more effective! WOW, Turkey W as always /s

Now for real, what difference does it make to them… there is no medical procedure without risks even if it’s just medicine, there are always side effects. It just proves how little they care about actual scientific research. They are bigots for the sake of being bigots.

Ironically, Turkey is one of the main countries for sourcing affordable over-the-counter hormone medications for trans people forced to DIY in countries which restrict official access to gender-affirming hormone therapy, so all this does is force people to do it themselves without supervision.

They should impose an adequate treatment necessity instead instead of giving bad surgeons easy access to treat people

    9. ThatRagingHomo on

Awe… I guess iran could have a booming economy for anyone wishing to transition.

    10. mudcrabulous on
