Makes me laugh that they don’t include rough sleepers in these figures. Convenient way of doctoring the numbers and they still hit record highs every time they are released.

It’s going to keep rising if you keep letting people come here. Why does this figure even amaze people anymore.

There are 16,000 vacant properties in Dublin alone, right now.

Every single person on that list could have a roof over their heads if the government really wanted it.

Why not buy citywest for €148 million and house some of them there temporarily…oh wait they’re going to fill it with mostly men from the Middle East and Africa who traversed the entire European continent to come to a country they have no connection to and exploit it.

    5. Would love to see all the people justifying voting for FF/FG yesterday in that other thread, come in and justify this.

With all the money we have in this country, this is a disgrace, chronic mismanagement of record tax intake.

28% (highest category) of single people going homeless leaving asylum/refugee accommodation.

17% (2nd highest category) of single people newly arrived from abroad – past 6 months

42% of single people going homeless are non-EU (i.e. their presence in the state is completely controlled by the government)

In the families, 12% (3rd highest category) asylum/refugee family reunification, 5% leaving direct provision/asylum accommodation.

Families less represented in homelessness because asylum seeker accommodation prioritises people with children.

      Compared with 2022 (https://www.homelessdublin.ie/content/files/Homeless-update-34-December-2022.pdf?v=1676471804)

      Single – Leaving direct provision – 3%

I remember when they were trying their best to keep it under 10,000. They thought going over that would break the dam so to speak.
