So, if a hospital is doing poorly, then gets less funding, how us it going to improve?

This is not a good idea. The profession is overworked and underpaid as it is, plus being essential, and you want to give them performance-related pay?
So they are going to remove funding from hospitals that are failing and incentivise doctors and nurses to get rid of patients asap. I can’t see how any of this could go wrong.
This sounds like a recipe for cover ups and staff bullying
Been worried about this sort of thing being introduced for years. Sometimes it’s hard to get waiting lists downs due to third parties, like social workers, family decisions, staffing and so much more, but sure put full blame on staff that are already doing their best to fire fight. Such a joke.
As usual with any improvements plan on the NHS, no one reads beyond the policy title, and everyone has 10 good reasons why it would not work yet isn’t able to offer constructive alternatives.
This is already an issue because failing to meet targets results in fines which results in more targets being missed. Can’t believe they are doubling down and now also linking it to ratings.
Do they know the public??
Not all.. but there’s a large majority that will complain just for the sake of complaining with absolutely no substance.
Then there will be those with a entitlement complex who do the whole “I now dictate your hospitals funding and that cup of tea you provided while bursting your arse was lukewarm… bring me the complaint paperwork!”
They’re gonna have a whole new headache to deal with and a shit ton of paperwork to go with it.
