Well they paid it
Is that fancy bottled water. Just ask for tap water
Well at least they got “Echo Water“
People will pay it that’s why. The advice is to vote with your feet.
This is all I could find for ‘Echo Water’ https://echowater.com/?srsltid=AfmBOoqBiriuuPdh0QJz7qYtFa52p7DfRFYAG9LeDRqC7OguOfAUnteK
Notions.
The Comet does food now…. 🤯
Almost €50 for 3 portions of what is probably frozen chicken is unreal
Probably not disconnected that it’s the only pub in santry
It’s not yourwadi, it’s theirs.
Comet used to be a great spot moved out of the area in 2017. They used to have tuberg and a few other options that were significantly cheaper than your main drafts and they used to be very busy dont have a clue what they are like now. That receipt is ridiculous
14 quid for tenders and no chips is expensive? Right?
Stop, I paid 4 euro a few weeks back for MiWadi in a pub…still cheaper than a pint but I was silently raging as I poured my naggin into it
Why are you focused on the price of a pint?
A portion of chicken tenders for €14? A portion of fries for €6? That’s €20 for “chicken tenders and chips”. That’s where the prices have jump drastically over the years. Not the price of a pint which is very little over the official inflation figure over the past few decades.
Are we just glossing over the fact that there is a 20cent difference between a pint and a pint bottle
The prices for eating out in Dublin and probably Ireland are going through the roof. I visited a restaurant a couple of weeks back and ended up paying €30 for a stake and that was just the stake. Everything else was extra, pepper sauce, veg and spuds/chips all separate prices on top. It’ll be the last time I visit that restaurant.
Good to know my tip isn’t going to the DIRECTORS!!!!!! WTF!
7.60 for a glass of wine when you could get a bottle for 8 and drink it at home.
I was there a few weeks ago. €8.20 for a bottle of ALCOHOL FREE Kopparberg.
I stopped drinking at the pub as before (max 3 pints), no more coffee on the go apart from the weekends and no more than once a month going to a restaurant. It is what it is, with these prices. And the worst coffee chain ever 3FE just opened nearby instead of a fantastic family run coffee business that I always endorsed. They won’t have me.
On top of overpriced food and drinks we now have a tipping culture. Nice one
Asking for tips on top of that too.
All it will take is a sudden shock to our economy and all these places will evaporate overnight as everyone will suddenly realise they are pissing money away on bills like this. Thats essentially a few bits of a kids menu and a few drinks.
The food is the most shocking part price wise. Quick check online it seems most of that ‘cost’ is just the privilege of eating in the restaurant and not getting take away from them.
Though it’s fun to look at the menu over the years via google search and see the prices rise in realtime
the fries were 4 euro in 2018, 5 euro in 2023, 5.50 in 2024 and 6 euro today:

Aspects like miwadi etc being overpriced is not something new, it was always the case that soft drinks and similar were priced at a premium in both pubs and restaurants. Its why mum always insisted we only get one each when we ate out as kids and you had to make that sucker last the meal by breaking up coke sips with sips from the table water.
One of the few things the UK tends to do better on, they often have soft drinks on tap in pubs so you can balance out the value by ordering a pint of whatever softdrink instead.
Though my view of prices here are slightly skewed as I have a pub near me that seems to be immune to the rise in prices, everywhere else around me has gone up in cost but this pub has stayed consistently cheap for large dinners so it’s where I eat out exclusively.
Absolute shithole! Shocking food and the place is filthy and run down but very little alternative in Santry for food and drinks. Killer, 5 minute walk away, is a much nicer pub but sadly doesn’t do food.
Bring one of these and get a glass of water…

Those are crazy prices for pub food. But no so cheap in the UK either. In a Brighton pub last weekend. One pint of 3.4% IPA (which is supposed to be cheaper than stronger beers) and a large glass of wine £15.95. Food wise, (very average) burger & Fries £18. I know the pub have bills to pay but when look inbetween the bun and see a mini burger & you count out a total of 13 skinny fries in one of those studid (mini) metal buckets I can only conclude that they are taking the piss.
The pubs pushed for minimum pricing as well because of their own greed.
