Roman Catholicism has rules placed on adherents to the faith, if you don’t like those rules why continue to want to be a member of that Church?

This the same church that says to hate the sin and not the sinner?
Bit hypocritical to adhere to one part of the teaching and not another, especially from a man of the cloth.

Jesus was euthanized. He wasn’t killed against his will. If he fought with all his might to continue living in spite of what was for the best then it would have kinda undermined his message.
Surely he could exercise compassion and forgiveness, like they do for diddlers.

His concern is that his kids’ friends were there at church when the priest said this. Does he think enduring truths will change to protect his reputation🙄 Entitled as heck.
Same catholic church which, when asked what to do when pregnant woman needs an emergency abortion or both she and the child she’s carrying dies, answers “let both of them die”?

Communion is symbolic cannibalism. That’s how outdated is the church.
I’m not remotely religious but on the flip side have no issue with a priest doing this. The priest subscribes to the religious doctrine of the Roman Church, as does its congregation.
Canon Law specifically states that those who are ‘obstinately persevering in manifest grave sin are not to be admitted to Holy Communion’. The priest is clearly interpreting public support for legislation like an assisted dying bill as being contrary to Church teaching (which it is) on the sanctity of life.
It’s the right of the priest to judge the MP’s actions as gravely sinful and public, justifying the denial of communion to avoid scandal within the community.
Obvisouly you might ask yourself why you would to be a member of the congregation if you disagree with these fundamental religious teachings, but thats a question for the MP.
I feel like this is what you sign up for with the Catholic Church. You can’t just not believe in the religion stuff and keep going for the socials, that’s what Anglicanism is for.
Remind me why religion gets so many free pass3s in our society?
