On the bright side, British people can now go to Brighton for the Benidorm experience, no need to travel abroad!

How many stories have there been in UK papers saying “hotter than [insert random place that’s currently cooler than you’d expect here]” so far?

I wish i was irish. Cannot understand peoples who loves heat.

That’s not that accurate; it’s got 32º for Bristol – and the high is ‘only’ 30º (which is far too fucking hot enough), and the Met Office has London’s high as 33º.

I have Graves’ disease (autoimmune hyperthyroidism) and I am hypersensitive to heat. The only ‘good’ thing is that the humidity isn’t all that high).

The west of Ireland is unseasonably cool, though (but the 20º in Donegal would suit me just fine).

Could also be a migration map of Londoners post pandemic

Prepare yourself for London transport network failures.

ELI5 cos I am stoopid, why if they are on the same latitude is England so much hotter than Ireland? Or is this a failing of the map that isn’t actually drawn/laid out correctly thing?

Piddling down rain here in Galway. Classic Irish summer. I love it 😁

At some point Ireland is going to become the summer refuge for our mainland European friends.

A pleasant 18 degrees and showery climate for two weeks to avoid the 40c hellscape.

      Ye are all very welcome.

I speak from experience when I say that 22 in Dundee will feel just as warm to the locals as those low 30s further south.

Anything above 17 is shorts weather in this part of the world.

Nip across to Ireland for a few pints till it cools down again.

Perfect weather in Durham in the north east. 28 degrees, sunny but with gorgeous breeze!

Has anyone checked on the people in Co. Mayo? They’re really not used to double figures, it could be a disaster!

I flew home from Croatia recently. Lovely clear skies, all along the Adriatic coast, beautiful. Italian alps from the airplane window, gorgeous. Forests mountains and fields all across Europe to see and wonder. Even the coast of France and Britain was clearly visible. Over the lush green landscape of our nearest neighbour. Just as the pilot calls the cabin crew to prepare for descent into Dublin, we fly into a cloud bank. As the plane punches through, there is another layer of clouds. The aircraft dips below this, only to find another layer of clouds. The rest of Europe enjoying lovely sunshine and we have three fucking layers of cloud blotting out the sun.

I’m in the Sperrin mountains, it’s 18 degrees and raining.

This is quite normal for the UK. The South & East can regularly hit 30+ in a good summer but the North West might see 25 for one or two days a year.

Just went for a nice 5K jog in Dublin. Its a bit humid but there was a nice breeze from the sea.
