A beautiful 20c here in Cornwall, not jealous at all of my London friends today.

People really do get a bit hysterical with this heat.
I mean, yes – it’s hot. A bit uncomfortable when doing stuff. But unless you are very elderly or have some specific medical issue, just get on with it. It’s literally a couple of days and we’ll be back to low 20s again.
If you’re involved in manual work I have sympathy, but most people here just have bullshit desk jobs anyway. Poor you – pop a fan on.

I guess the thermometer on my house is broken then, I live quite close to where that record was measured and it’s showing 40C.
Luckily I bought some portable aircon units, or I would be sweating away.
It’s not quite feeling as hot as three years ago, but getting there.

I’m in Greece currently and it’s not dropped below 30 in the day since I’ve been here (and it’s still really hot at night). I have however had a perfect night sleep each night and woke up cool and refreshed because they have window shutters and don’t have the same parsimonious attitude to AC that we have in the UK.
We really need to move away from seeing AC as some frivolous luxury as it’s actually brilliant and makes things so much more comfortable. Added bonus is it can heat in the winter too.

My phone says its 36c, and indoors with the curtains shut I’m reading 30.6c in my room.

Both my rooms (only have a small flat) are showing 29.9. Not ideal.

I’m British and live in Germany in the Nord Rhein Westfalia area and it was 38C today and supposed to be even hotter tomorrow 🥵
