This is why people praising the greens for doing everything they can to get into government even though they get decimated at the next elections are naive.

It’s entirely self serving. They wouldn’t be getting these positions without being in government and networking and building up contacts.

Bending the knee for FFG worked out well for auld Eamo.

“Tsar” isย a historical title for a supreme ruler, particularly in Slavic countries. It’s derived from the Latin word “caesar,” and is essentially the Eastern European equivalent of “emperor.”ย Historically, it was used in Bulgaria, Serbia, and most notably, Russia, where it denoted the emperors from 1547 until the Russian Revolution in 1917.ย

      eu housing supreme leader?

Didn’t another one of them get appointed as head of an NGO recently?

Glad to see they’re landing on their feet /s

I mean, they did such a good job at it when he was in Government, after all.

The man who played a key role in failing to build houses in Ireland is promoted to build houses in Europe. You couldn’t make it up.

But we have a Department and Minister for Housingโ€ฆ. Whatโ€™s the reporting structure here? I find it all unnecessary.

I don’t know why we are nicknaming every difficult job “tsar”, a dictator that was brutal and in the end unpopular. I am not a fan of this. It makes really important roles poison chalices before they even start.

I’m not really surpirsed by this.ย Throughout the last Government, Ryan constantly showed his willingness to maintain the status quo on a range of issues nationally and internationally so he’ll be well suited to this new role in the EU.ย

Below is one example of him subverting real participatory democracy on behalf of the EU establishment –

I did not expect to see his name in that role.

I hope he makes a positive difference – but I’m really surprised to see an environmentalist in there.

Wonderful, yet another taxpayer funded makey uppey and advisory board.

Every EU state has different building regulations, planning and legal requirements, needs et cetera et cetera. There is a fuck all EU commission can or should do.

I am guessing this lucrative role is his payoff for waiving the EU flag in Irish politics for the past couple of decades.

I wish him nothing but the absolute worst.

I think he is the ideal person for the job tbh.

He has all the experience required, all he needs to do is the exact opposite of what he’s been doing here and he will be an incredible success.

Itโ€™s no wonder people are losing faith in the EU.

      Good luck to you, Europe!
