Those who vote right wing are going to make this earth hell now. The moment to act is now and already it’ll cause damages.
Anybody who plans to vote right wing is committing crimes against the future generations. There will be no economy to salvage and no civilization to talk about if we continue on the same path.

Not only are they failing to spur support for climate action, but, even worse, scientists in meteorology, climatology, glaciology, remote sensing, … are more and more threatened by the average far-right voter. “Climate change” appears to also be a transition to an anti-intellectual climate.

feel like air conditioning is more important really 👍 even if Europe was completely carbon neutral or negative climate change would continue at a similar rate

People talk about investment plans to save for their retirement, for their kids and grandkids. All that will not matter if you don’t act now. All you’ll leave the future generations is a charred earth marred by water wars, droughts and famines.
Please act now. If not for yourself then for the next generation. Environmental scientists have been pleading this for more than 50 years now. Please act. Please!
And yes we have bigger culprits now. Russia, Saudi Arabia and USA are amongst the worst. But we have to set examples for others to follow. Let’s do the right thing.

Tell that to Putin and Xi.

It’s true that at this point more than 90% of the greenhouse effect is being caused by CO2 emissions from outside the EU (even taking into account consumption-based ones, so including those outsourced to other places), but the least we can do is contribute as little as possible to it, and add things like carbon capture and possibly geoengineering as much as possible.

Europe is responsible for 6-8% of global emissions.
We’re supposed to butcher our economy to act as a pretentious symbol for others to laugh at and exploit?

People have also faced energy shortages with lost jobs, higher food prices and general chaos due to having Putler next doors in combination with naive green energy policies without an ounce of realism.
People will no longer buy Green hand waving regarding renewable intermittency etc. If you want a green transition, you need to start talking mineral grain sizes, material use, grid stability, expeditionary military capability to secure mineral supplies, industrial base etc. Big picture engineering solutions that unfairly get branded as “fossil fuel industry lobbying” by unqualified renewable energy proponents. They’re not helping their important cause.
Questions like these need to be solved. But won’t unless the debate matures.

Because why focus on existential crisises like climate change when you can focus on profits instead?

People lack hope on solutions and they’re still not desperate.
