      >€100m in total was paid out to these companies during that time employing the external companies to carry out waiting list work using public facilities in the evenings and weekends.

      >The HSE review – which followed recent controversies – also shows that 83 directors of these companies are current or previous employees of the HSE. Some 23 are current employees – working in the HSE while also serving as directors of companies hired by hospitals to reduce backlogs of waiting list patients.

I get a sense that a lot of the reason for our high costs and poor services is a total lack of basic management systems and financial control, despite all the administration layers.

It’s got so boring being annoyed about consultancy fees being paid out by public funds. And that’s how the government would like you to feel. Apathetic to this bullshit.

It didn’t say whether or not the companies helped them. Just says they spent XX on them and we’d like to phase out their use going forward. It doesn’t say that they did a bad job, just kind of hints at keeping more control in house.

Did a shit job. Eighteen month wait for an MRI in the public system and children in agony on waiting lists with scoliosis. How many operations would 54 million get ya. Madness

Why be efficient when you can waste money left and right like no tomorrow?

Of course. When the money is not yours.

It’s absolutely laughable the level of problem solving that occurs at the highest levels in Ireland

Any undesirable behaviours just slap a tax on it or treat the symptoms. Anything else just throw money at private companies to fix it at extortionate rates.

Let’s not actually focus on what’s actually causing the growing waiting lists, we just need to manage the people waiting abit better..

Honestly we need a serious reform. Their is genuinely a handful of individuals in government and positions of power in Ireland at the moment that can think and operate on a critically, and their spread across different parties and a presidents office.

Why don’t we just privatise our government too? It seems like our government already just operates as a consultancy firm for actual competent professionals who come at a premium.
