Hope so but I fear it may struggle as it’s a halfway house between a fast food place and a proper restaurant.

It’s expensive and I rarely go there but IMHO their Strawberry Malt and Garlic cheese chips can’t be beaten.

    3. They used to be really nice, like the burger was far better than anything you can get these days. Standards started falling around 2010 and it’s been steadily getting worse since. I had one at the start of the year and it was horrible so they are off the menu for me now.

Don’t go there anymore due to finance issues, but I loved their meals.

We used to call it “Empty Pockets” due to the prices.
In fairness the food is better than McDonald’s, supermacs or Burger King.
It’s also cheaper than any of these pubs doing fancy burgers & chips for €20+.

      It’s ok,but I wouldn’t be going there very often.

We’re a family of four – 2 adults and (almost) 2 teenagers. We love it. It’s not cheap but everyone leaves happy.

Personally, I think they do the best burgers around and their chocolate malt is a taste sensation.

Haven’t really been since they discontinued the
      three-way chilli.

I love their special sauce – it’s like a mayonnaise.

My local one makes you pay up before you eat. Probably sick of dine and dashers.

the route 66 burger for me is banging, the fries are crap, but the Mr beast crinkle cut is so good

To be fair great grub, it’s too pricey for such a small portion of anything tho.

Used to be lovely, it was always above average price but it was worth it in my opinion.

Now it’s not that nice and prices have skyrocketed, nowhere near worth it.

Once upon a time its premium burgers were a unique offering, but it was always expensive. I used to eat there a bit as a treat in 2005-2007.

Recession hit the place hard and Eddies started messing around with faddy things like shake bars. At the same time, genuinely better places like Bunsen started opening up. Generally the burger and chicken scene improved so much that Eddie’s USP was gone, and I always suspected they started costcutting- the menus got smaller and the quality worse . Really I just find the place grubby and disappointing these days.

Last time I was there, they had chicken tenders in hot sauce for €8, but there was only 4 tiny little chicken tenders. I thought it was a mistake but nope- you get 3 or 4 tenders depending on their size. €2 per mini chicken bite. So I’m not going back.

I do miss their burger sauce though, and the chocolate malt of course.

It feels like a relic of a relic now. The 50s american diner thing was a novelty people were familiar with in the 80s and 90s, but now it feels like the reference has been forgotten and it’s just a shit restaurant chugging along because it has some good locations and it’s an easy win for parents because it’s weird for kids and McDonald’s is so soulless now.

    16. JONFER--- on

I have no complaints about the quality of the food but it’s extremely pricey for what it is.

Used to go a lot in my early twenties as me and my friends loved the booths and food was actually really nice

This was probably around 2014ish and then after a few years went completely downhill. Quality really low.

It was expensive but the vibes and food quality were great but once the quality went down, wasn’t worth it anymore

Last time I went the wings were clearly microwaved, the burger wasn’t seasoned and the chicken tenders were the length of my pinky finger.

Used to go there on a Friday after work with my hangover from the previous night’s Fibbers. The half and half and an icey coke would give me the strength to get home and/or back out. Had it again years later. The shrinkage of the onion ring’s and portion size would of made the Mary Robinson tapestry weep.

    19. It was ahead of its time at one stage, like growing up in the 90s my parents took me and we enjoyed it but the local food scene has caught up and surpassed it.

I had it before a gig in 3 Arena recently and it was diabolical. Another time I ordered from a venue close to me for takeaway and it was muck.

Looked up the company and the owner stepped down from managing it in 2019 and they seem to be trying to spin up other franchises out of it. They don’t seem to be doing well though.

We’re from KC and we’re there last year. Stopped at ER to grab lunch. Not bad. It was pricey but we weren’t disappointed by it.

Used to go once a month or more in college. Cheap food, I liked it as a place to hang out with a group and sit over a bowl or 2.of chips. Then got some money working, still ate there was decent around 2010. Got it before a gig around 2022. Standards had seriously slipped but the prices had taken of like a rocket.

Wouldn’t go near it now but do have fond memories.  Wouldn’t be surprised to hear it’s struggling, but the one in Citywest always has a decent flow of folks in and out so it’s hard to know

    22. Rider189 on

I want to like them… but the last time I went it was tired, dirty and the food was shite. It was also expensive.

The competition of burger places has grown exponentially where even the average pub serves a better / attractive burger at this point.

    23. StrongCelery on

Love the vanilla malt it is yummy. Burgers still quite good. Better than McD’s / Burger King / Supermac’s etc at any rate

    24. CapnBeardbeard on

Used to be good, not sure exactly when they turned to shite but not a place I’d choose to eat any more

    25. Brine-O-Driscoll on

      Depends where you get it.

Went to the one in Stillorgan and it was lovely.

Went to the one in Newbridge and it was abysmal.

Good milkshakes, high prices. I don’t like actually being inside one though – it feels like a sensory nightmare for me. No idea why

    27. superwhizz114 on

Their food is delicious but I can’t help feeling like a gluttonous pig afterwards
