      In Poland we call these type of events as strike of serial suicider. Yes, irony included. Meaning, he got “helped” in ending his life, like many others who had upset the Russian regime.

      This new spate of russuicides, trademarking that one, has to be for something, failures in that drone attack on bombers or the pipeline getting blown could be the ultimate reason for this and the oil exec that fell out the window?

      It is russia so could be any manner of skullduggery.

      This actually looks like a suicide. Because, apart from being dismissed by Putin, there is another thing going on:

      >Kommersant has learned that defendants in the case of embezzlement of at least 1 billion rubles (~$10mln USD) allocated for the construction of protective structures on the border with Ukraine have testified against Mr. Starovoit. Among those who testified was former Kursk Region Governor Alexei Smirnov. Roman Starovoit served as governor of the Kursk region from October 2018 to May 2024.

      Rather ironically, Smirnov, who testified against him, was arrested for the very same thing:

      >In April 2025, Smirnov and former First Deputy Governor of Kursk Region Alexey Dedov were charged with fraud committed as part of an organized group using their official position (part 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code). According to the investigation, Smirnov and Dedov led members of an organized group and together with the management of the “Kursk Region Development Corporation” organized the embezzlement of budget funds for more than a billion rubles. “Development Corporation” acted as a general contractor in the construction of defensive structures on the border with Ukraine, the stolen money was allocated for the construction of engineering structures. Smirnov and Dedov did not admit guilt.

      So TLDR – the guy was a former governor of the Kursk region, stole a bunch of money from the budget with his deputy governor, and got promoted to minister of transport, while the deputy got promoted to the governor of Kursk. Then the deputy got arrested for corruption and ratted him out.
