    1. I’m confused. Surely the same will apply to all homeless people, not just one group?

I lose good will when I see the headline claiming that 90% are missed, yet the evidence cited in one part of the article states 54%, and elsewhere gives raw figures suggesting perhaps 60%. As ever they skip any comparison with male hidden homelessness and go straight to the assertion that it is worse for women without producing any robust evidence.
It looks like another example of a lobby group starting a PR campaign with pretty flaky figures.

Ok, what about the other side of the argument, and the children?

I might be misreading the article but this doesn’t read as a gender issue but a sampling issue, so they’re making the point the numbers of homeless will be way off altogether bc there’s pockets of women who will sleep away from the most likely places for numbers to be counted.

So homeless men never spend time overnight in A&E, bank foyers or on public transport? All of those would seem preferable to actually being out in the open air on a cold wet night so why don’t they? Are they daft?

Or is this just someone stating something that can’t be substantiated because the current facts don’t meet their world view? Based on the various different numbers thrown out, I know which way I’m going.

That said the count is designed to identify rough sleepers not homelessness per se as it certainly can’t pick up on sofa surfing and such which are the most common form of homelessness.

*Article details how homeless women are often missing from calculations due to sampling bias in regards to how those figures are collated*

      Reddit: “BUT WHAT ABOUT MEN??”

Guys, this isn’t what you think it is.

Guys, you know, you don’t need to deny this is an issue.

Men’s issues do not vaporize as a concept because people are talking about something negative that effects women.

Why are the only comments on this article trying to disprove it? We don’t like it when people do that to men’s problems so why is it acceptable to do when faced with women’s?
