If at first you don’t succeed,

Try go for different political office where you don’t have to take responsibility for your glaring shortcomings and failures.

I’d be very surprised, it would be an awful pick by SF, she would have absolutely no chance whatsoever.

    3. At least it will be easy to remember all the women presidents names

I can’t see Sinn Fein running anyone of note. If they run some no name placeholder candidate when they lose who cares? But if they run a big-name candidate and they get soundly beaten then that embarrassment can’t really be ignored.

Sinn Fein are just not transfer friendly, they have alienated many on the left because of their flip-flopping and the further right you go the less they are trusted.

What an utter embarrassment to the country that would be.

President would be the peak of her ambition.

No real power to change anything but a large microphone to shout about how everyone else is wrong and you are right.

I hear Sinn Fein is spreading ruzzian narratives, would not be surprised if many of them are on putin’s payroll.

The current president has achieved absolutely nothing in his 14 year term.

Mary will be the perfect person to continue this legacy.

Given the lack of credible nominations so far and the fact that name recognition plays a big part in Irish politics. I would be of the opinion that it’s a calculated risk SF should take.

Not only would Mary Lou’s name on the ballet give them a shot, it also gives her a dignified off ramp, the party a chance of a high profile election win which it badly needs, and gives the opportunity for a refresh with a new leader etc.

      She won’t rule herself out

But the military council will Hai

It would be funny if she did win the presidency then we would have had 3 female presidents and 3 Mary presidents

Jaysus FFG HQ got the word out to their foot soldiers. State of these comments.

She has no widespread support, the lowest polling of the major party leaders, and is disliked even by groups within Sinn Féin. She’d have no chance. Seems more of a move by the party to get her out of leadership without the PR nightmare.

Ha ha ha ha ha. Honest to god have these people lost the run of themselves altogether

Considering all the dammage she’s done to sinn fein maybe they should nominate her. On second thoughts I hope they don’t nominate her because if they do I’ll have to go out and Vote for some of the other eejits running against her.

Many loyal SF voters are disgusted at them , women’s rights immigrants , housing tax they have just become two legs good for legs bad ..four legs bad two legs good. They are a disgrace , still banking on popularity not policy. They may very run her because they have no chance and then can flip flop as a Scape goat ..who the feck cares at this stage .They are like every wef politician and don’t care

    18. Ok-Skirt6974 on

I’m not a Sinn Fein voter but I probably would vote for her in the Presidential election.

I was hoping for Gerry Adams due to the sheer amount of pearl clutching it would cause

She will be better doing that than in opposition because she has been absolutely shite.

    21. Raddy_Rubes on

She’d be an awful president. A poor droney speaker in my opinion. Her time is over in terms of leading SF and the presidency is not for her in my opinion.
