Condizioni sociali? Qualcosa di più profondo? Anche altri hanno sentito questo turno? Sto reagendo in modo esagerato o sono cose diverse adesso?

You are wildly overreacting.
It is capitalism in a crisis. People, especially youth, are feeling worse and worse due to cuts which lead to the worsening quality of life. Everyone in the parliament is guilty of this. People should come before profits, but it just isn’t the case in this capitalist system. It will always lead to this.
Didn’t bother reading the whole post, chill and relax
Money has changed, no one has it. Desperate people do desperate shit and youth crime is wild atm due to laws being so mellow on youth offenders.
Ah yes, the golden days. Which ones exactly? The ones of drunken dads, poverty and domestic abuse? Ah yes, those. The ones of world wars, civil wars and famine? Or just the ones you choose to idealize from your own youth based on selective memories? Ah ok.
The good ole golden era myth. As valid now as it was in the Bronze Age.
No jobs means more jobless. Goverment made cuts on the poor. So now jobless are even poorer than before. This causes more crime because people have to STEAL to be able to get by.
It’s going to get worse before it gets better.
Also there was a news article that talked about how Helsinki police focus mainly on petty crime cases to show ”look we have done so much!” This also makes the statistics worse.
The crime rate per 100 000 people has been steadily going down for decades in Finland.
So yes the violent after war Finland with abnormally high number of man slaughters during 50’s and exceptionally high suicide numbers during 70’s and 80’s are all history now.
People, if the news really gets you so upset, do not read ‘em.
How I see it is that the rise in feminism contributes to a society where there is a lack of discipline. They who thrive in todays society are the shameless people. We need to be more tougher in schools and don’t let pupils let loose.
I think 2015 was the point where was no return.
Coming from Sweden to Finland, I would say Finland is at least 20 years and wild degredation of politicians behind of becoming a real problem.
(also add that the politicians need to outright deny these problems for the 20 years.)
I mean yes? We aren’t a homogenous high trust society anymore, not since we decided to embrace lax immigration policies. And yes in relative terms we are, but it’s getting worse and worse.
As mentioned by many others, you are overreacting. However, robberies have increased in the last few years and I’d say its an issue that needs to be addressed. But the general safety of Finland has not changed: even if robberies have become more common, e.g. violent crime as a whole has been steadily reducing.
(Data for robberies here, data for violent crime: [https://pxdata.stat.fi/PxWeb/pxweb/fi/StatFin/StatFin__rpk/statfin_rpk_pxt_154m.px/chart/chartViewLine/](https://pxdata.stat.fi/PxWeb/pxweb/fi/StatFin/StatFin__rpk/statfin_rpk_pxt_154m.px/chart/chartViewLine/) )

Redditors obviously blame capitalism but one thing that is often not mentioned is that these guys feel powerful when they rob and assault someone. They feel good. They get a great rush out of it. And they don’t regret it one bit like you and I would. This will become more common as there are more rootless and lost people in this country if [McLuhan’s following claim](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULI3x8WIxus) is correct:
“Yes, all forms of violence are quests for identity. When you live out on the frontier, you have no identity. You are a nobody. Therefore, you get very tough. You have to prove that you are somebody. So you become very violent. Identity is always accompanied by violence. This seems paradoxical to you? Ordinary people find the need for violence as they lose their identities. It is only the threat to people’s identity that makes them violent. Terrorists, hijackers – these are people minus identity. They are determined to make it somehow, to get coverage, to get noticed.”
I have good friends who grew up in certain parts of Helsinki who remember muggings being a regular part of life in the 90s. The truth is hardship runs deep here. Heck, just one kilometer from my apartment (in a calm, lovely suburban area) there’s a memorial for those executed in a killing field during the Civil War. Why people have this idealized version of Finland as some untouched land of moral purity is beyond me. This has always been a land of sisu, grit, and resilience, even if Nokia and Angry Birds made it look polished for a while. That doesn’t mean you’re not safe: it means the kind of strife and hardship that can lead to crime have always been part of this place.

Here’s a link to a study by university of Helsinki (just look at the charts at least if you cannot be asked to read). The reality is that amount of crimes in Finland has steadily been going down since 2000. Finland is one of the safest countries in the world and the general trend is that it just keeps getting safer. What has changed is the amount of fear mongering, which this post also contributes to. People share a lot more news about violent crimes and media has incentive to make more such news and push them as those generate clicks and traffic.
There’s also this iltasanomat article that has data from 1990’s onwards [https://www.is.fi/kotimaa/art-2000005983453.html](https://www.is.fi/kotimaa/art-2000005983453.html) . Sure it’s not academic source, but should be good enough to show here that the trend has been going on for a while now.
As is evident from that IS article, there’s a peak in violent crime in 1992. That’s from the aftermath of great depression I’d assume. Biggest spike is at 2009. Happens to be aligned with 2009 financial crisis. Yet the crime rate came down quickly after that.
Now we are again in midst of economic crisis and unemployment is high. Therefore it’s rather safe to assume that this is going to be seen in a temporary increase in crime rate. Also current government policy is making it harder for poor people, thus increasing struggle and crime. Still overall the trend is down and there’s no reason to worry about “Losing The Finland We Once Knew”.
Finland is still a relatively safe country. However there has been small increase in robberies and other crimes in recent years and things can get a lot worse if these issues are swept under the carpet.
