      >For motor injury claims that settled for less than €100,000 in H1 2024, the average compensation cost was down 23% compared to 2020, while the average total cost decreased by 13%.

      >When including all injury claims however, the average total cost is effectively unchanged at €38,553, highlighting the contribution of large injury claims towards total claims costs.

So seems more that a number of extremely large claims pushed that up as well as legal costs but by in large not like the average claim had any bearing

    2. Once again, an article with lobby groups attacking the Personal Injury Guideline increases without a single mention that it’s simply an inflation-linked increase.

Or in other words – legal lobby increased their fees for personal injury claims by 23%

So it turns out injury awards weren’t the problem. Who could have foreseen this.

Some insurance companies are scrotes. I had a small claim on my policy for accidental damage (something flew off another vehicle and damaged my bonnet) and the insurance company has left the claim open since early 2023. Their refusal to do anything to progress the claim has left me in a position where I have to renew with them every year at an inflated price and can’t make changes I need to my policy. And here the industry is again, setting us all up for price increases on a product we are forced to have that doesn’t even do what it’s supposed to.

Let’s keep in mind that insurance companies are making enormous profits. We are forced to buy their products if we want to drive a car, have a mortgage or open a business but they are not providing a public service.

After.you read the article it feels like the insurance companies were given first go at writing the headline. So they can’t point to something when prices go up because fuck you that’s why.

I guess we can look forward to a 63% increase in premiums then…
