The benefit system is fucked and the government need to stop punishing people for working. That said if this actually reduces disincentives for work (which are huge and toxic) then I support that.

This is the Benefits Reform Bill that was originally intended to save the government money which will now cost money – and mean more taxes or spending cuts from Reeves in the Budget in October.
And who writes this stuff? – ‘new customers with 12 months or less to live….will see their UC health element rise…every year from 2026/27 to 2029/30’.
*All existing recipients of the UC health element and new customers with 12 months or less to live or who meet the Severe Conditions Criteria will also see their standard allowance combined with their UC health element rise at least in line with inflation every year from 2026/27 to 2029/30. This means they can live with dignity and security, knowing the reforms to the welfare system mean it will always be there to support them.*
Yeah lets give more money to people who are out of work, that will get them looking for jobs lol
And here comes the hate machines. Cant be helping people out of poverty, no. Give the poor and disabled nothing, let them rot in the streets so we can laugh at them and cheer “hurrah!” with a fully engorged stiff upper lip.
