      I object to “these people” having to pee in an outdoor toilet in my estate 

      They should hold it in all day til they get home

      Would they prefer them pissing on their back garden walls I wonder?

      Just ignore them and build it anyway. It’s public infrastructure for the use of the bus service.

      You don’t get to have a say if the ESB needs to install another transformer in your housing estate.

      How about the residents let the bus drivers use their bathrooms?

      Do Dublin Bus buses have toilets btw?! Been a while since I lived in Dublin but often took the 16 and don’t remember any facilities on it.

      > Kingston Residents’ Association has lodged an appeal with An Coimisiún Pleanála (formerly An Bord Pleanála) to the decision of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council to grant planning permission to Dublin Bus for the “prefabricated drivers’ welfare facility” adjacent to a bus stop on Brehon Field Road, Ballinteer, Dublin 16.

      So this sounds like it’s for the current 16 terminus, and proposed terminus of the 80 (Ballinteer–Liffey Valley via Orwell Park and Chapelizod), which is also rumoured to become a 24-hour route.

      In what country do **city**-buses have on-board facilities?!?!?

      Yeah, no problem. The bus network won’t connect your area anymore since they’re such a nuisance.

      Farcical stuff, but 1,000% expected for that area. Rathfarnham has nimby’d itself into basically zero developments of any use for decades – the pathway from Loreto Park TO St Enda’s Park and the football club expansions at Nutgrove (which I think was thanks to Swansea FC more than anyone, if I recall).

      Anyone who knows that area knows it is very old, it has more or less zero antisocial youth issues, and no kids are hanging around up by where the 16 route begins and ends because there is nothing there. If what they are scaremongering about were the case, Marlay Park and the shops across from it would be permanently wrecked… but they’re not anything like that. 

      I’d also bet several of these folks are also the first to complain if they see a 16 bus driver pissing in the bushes at that roundabout between routes. What the fuck else are they supposed to do? It’s one of the longest routes in the entire city as best I know. 

      They shouldn’t even be entertained, and should be told to stop wasting everyone’s time.

      Back in the day there’d be an auld clever gurrier come along in the night to piss in these people’s letterboxes.

      How did all residents in certain areas get so much power? Like I’m all for much of the pedestrianisation of Dublin for example, but when I had some constructive feedback for the council it was completely ignored. So why can some actually object and have it listened to? Because frankly – it’s the needs of the many that should have control.

      I’ve literally seen bus drivers go off to the bush for a piss right before they start their route. It’s not fair to deny people access to a bathroom because “it looks like a box”…

      People pooeveryone does. Probably everyday going by our coffee usage. Public toilets everywhere. Parks. carparks. Bus termini.

      In the meantime, al the electrical boxes in this area should have themes of bus drivers pooped put on them.
