The 1.3billipn price tag may be a bit optimistic at this stage.
I believe it was 800 million when it was initially approved. And going by the inflation in this sector it could definitely climb past the 1.3 billion.
This is a massive project, that is necessary and has been needed almost since ringsend upgrade opened at the turn of the millennium.
Anyone who has been to Ringsend recently will tell you they’ll the recent upgrades has meant they have essentially used every inch of the site.
Probably high time we start approving large scale public works via statute, similar to Ardnacrusha. Seven years is a significant amount of time, but pales in comparison to the likes of Metro North.
That was backed up for a while. It must have been some relief to pass that blockage.
