What’s the divide? Most of the world is disgusted by the destruction of US’ democracy, as is Lady Liberty.

>This disgusts me. If any country ought to be kissing our ass it’s France. My Uncle Roy fought and died and is buried there for their freedom.
Thanks Uncle Roy. BTW your descendants are ruining the values you sought to protect, and invoking your legacy to try and gain internet points to act in a “mightier than thou” manner.
You know what disgusts me? US rewriting history to make it seem like they did more than they did in the great wars. Thank you for all of the sacrifices like Roy, but it doesn’t change the fact that while Europe was burning and dying you were all sitting around debating whether or not to join. You don’t get extra points for entering the war late, after the British had already turned the tides. Extra points go to the British soldiers and all the resistance movements across Europe. You can go back to congress to debate whether the Russians or the Ukrainians are the good guys, since it’s what you’re so good at.

>“We’re going to say to the Americans who have chosen to side with the tyrants, to the Americans who fired researchers for demanding scientific freedom: ‘Give us back the Statue of Liberty’,” said Glucksmann, adding: “We gave it to you as a gift, but apparently you despise it. So it will be just fine here at home.”
France is also no position to be lecturing anyone on authoritarianism given that Macron used his presidential power to push through a deeply unpopular pension reform against the wishes of the people and Parliament. In fact, we have authoritarians all over Europe: Fico, Meloni, Oban, the new Polish president, etc. We should focus on those instead of how America treats its illegal immigrants. America is not a European country.

They make way too much of a thing about that one weird sculpture studio at the end. I assume the “more masculine” statue tweet was a joke.
As for the Americans and Canadians who fought and died in Europe in WW2… I think we’re all still plenty grateful for that, but you can’t use your parents’ or grandparents’ service as a shield from criticism when you’re doing Nazi shit.
