They will be part of a unit that has other assets besides tanks, they will have intel and they will have trained men. Of course, it’s not outdated.
Only armchair generals and fools actually believe tanks and armoured vehicles to be “outdated”.
No, you won’t win a war with armour alone, but neither will drones on their own be the decisive factor – you always need a combination of all kinds of arms.
The real challenge is to use each effectively in battle, the coordinated use of army, navy and airforce, especially in a multinational force like NATO. Russia in particular has been actually struggling with this from day one in this war, and they don’t even have the complication of a multinational organisation. It’s quite challenging to do right.
The article correctly says that it may not be tanks and IFV, but rather something new that moves on tracks and wheels.
In other words, it is says about platforms.
The problem of air drones raises questions about the future development and protection of the crew and infantry.
Perhaps, like the 6th generation fighter jet, tanks will undergo a similar evolution, being as the core around which controlled drones will be(an air , on/under land)

Tanks will simply add hard kill measures for drones. Tanks will be around, but the gear will be new.
Seems like an invented debate. I have seen nowhere anyone say this is outdated.
Do you want to sit in an armored troop transport aka a “tank” or do you want to ride a bicycle to The front when drones are zipping about everywhere? Those armored vehicles can take a lot of drones before people get killed while the Russian casualty numbers show what happens without.
The general misunderstanding is that drones are ammunition, not weapon system to break through lines and take ground. Otherwise we should have had an argument why human soldiers aren’t obsolete when a single bullet is 3 cents and us humans do not take bullets very well.
