My account is still on there, it’s 21 years old.

      That is mind blowing.

At least we’ll still have Reddit to repeat the same topic every second day.

I don’t mean this in a bad way but as a software engineer myself: are computing costs now so high that they need 12k a month to maintain a message board?

I don’t write that kind of software so I’m not tuned into those costs, but message boards are fairly low overhead. I wouldn’t imagine the infra and maintenance costs come close.

Unless that newer Vanilla platform is actually a garbage pile of unoptimized shite and that’s what’s eating all their costs?

Used to live in boards, you’d know posters well too.

That was a decade ago, not been on it since.

Two employees would be a pretty large chunk of those costs, I imagine.

I used it in secondary school as it was the only local discussion board not blocked on the WiFi but honestly haven’t used it since

Have had a profile on there since 2007.

Place went to the dogs years ago and is full of nutcases in the likes of After Hours.

Haven’t been on there in ages.

They botched that update at the time, remember feeling sorry for some of the sitemods trying to manage that with the abuse they got.

Have an account on there since 2001. In the good old days it used to be a great hang out spot but my God the amount of head bangers that came of age and got access to the internet turned it into a cesspit.
