How about they just start simple and put the money back into the cadets so they can reopen the units and buy back the buildings needed for it. Demand always outstripped supply and it was always finding adult staff willing to put up with the MoDs BS that was the problem.

I have a couple of concerns with this approach:

      * By offloading the responsibility for improving society onto private suppliers (YET AGAIN), aren’t we at risk of those with the most capital and money (in some cases) dictating and having even more influence upon how society is run, especially when schemes like this are effectively being run like a business (pay for results).
      * There are many youth projects out there that likely do benefit young people but the results of how they do so will be difficult to measure/quantify in terms of hard data. If SIB’s are going to be the main way people get funded, doesn’t that leave them out in the cold? If everything is results driven (like in teaching), then it effectively becomes a tickbox exercise where even if you know you are doing good but you don’t yet have the data to back it up (research ongoing), you get told to fuck off by the government.

But that aside, I guess its about time young people are being thrown some crumbs rather than to the crows.

Why does she keep announcing more spending when she doesn’t have the money to pay for it?

Is this a different £500m that Darren Jones also just announced? Looks like a different scheme?

Seems a bit of a muddle with different Ministers announcing funding for their pet projects. Doesn’t feel like a big central strategy though – more PR for the Ministers.

Why not just manage it yourselves? Government creates jobs, gives jobs to anyone who needs it instead of relying on private companies who’s goal is to make as much money as possible

Literally burning money. Roadmen aren’t going to play ping-pong. You need to build more prisons and actually enforce the law
