No-one who understands statistics will believe that. Feb-june that much increase? More likely explanation would be: these statistics are wrong or some update changed user-agent to be linux.

I would take it with a pinch of salt.
Statcounter ,according to themselves, takes this data purely from browser “agent” transmitted. This can make the result dubious.
If it is true, then it is a very good progress forward. Now we just government and organizations to start supporting or preferring Linux. The German government in some parts are trying that and they do provide a chunk of funding to open source projects like arch, libreoffice, among others.
Oh how I hate being shoehorned into outlook and teams for work.
^(Long term linux user …btw,)
^(also for work which is not supported but you do what you need to.)

As much as I’d like this to be true, I also find it hard to believe. It seems more likely that some clients are wrongly categorised by their software. Another hint in this direction is the uptick in November, which was then corrected down the next month.

I bet those are people who like me had a perfectly functional computer with Windows 10. But can’t migrate to windows 11 because Microsoft made up hardware limitations. So Linux it is.
