Trains are frequently delayed I would advise to try to take an earlier train.

An 11 minute connection during peak time may work, may not. Probably rather not.

It’s DB, so anything could happen. Eleven minutes to transfer in the station should be plenty of time, but, it depends on whether or not the train TO Hbf is delayed.

Do yourself a favor an take an earlier train to Cologne. If everything runs on time 11 minutes is plenty of time, but the unfortunate reality is that the train being 5-10m late is just as likely and then things become stressful really quickly.

that layover is way too short. Take a train earlier to Köln

I very much recommend taking the train an hour earlier, as delays are common and trains are often cancelled. I can guarantee you that you will not make that connection. An hour earlier gives you a double failsafe: you miss that train or it’s cancelled, you have another one half an hour later and the one in your connection as a last chance; and if all trains fail (which is not wholly unlikely) you’ve still got time to maybe catch the metro. And check the train connections before you head to the train station. This may sound ridiculously overcautious, but the Bonn – Cologne connection is notoriously terrible, which is really saying something considering the dire state of the DB.

As everybody said, definitely take a connection earlier to cologne! the regional train leg of your journey is not bound to a specific train – any RE or Sbahn on that day is possible
