Zelensky should press Trump on getting those weapons that can hit military targets inside of Russia. Assuming Trump doesn’t TACO, then the question is, will Europe buy those weapons for Ukraine?

Putin’s really been a disaster for modern day Russia huh.
Guy is just completely uninterested in the boring tasks of bringing prosperity to his own people, just re-directing all money into his shitty gamesmanship, and trying to solidify his legacy in some mid-life crisis vanglorious attempts in what? restore the Soviety Union to its Good Times era?
This guy thought he could take Ukraine in days. 1 million injured russians later, he’s still at it.
The downsides of being surrounded by yes men, in an increasingly isolated compound.

Could take more of Ukraine. 3 years on and they have taken embarrassingly little. I don’t think the next 50 days is gonna change much.

So what was everyone expecting, him to turn tail and run. Never happen. He’ll kill another million and then look at the next country 🤷♂️. Besides, we all know Trump will “TACO”

I have a feeling that Putin wants escalation to justify terrible plans.
Indeed, Putin has, since the invasion, justified his actions by arguing that NATO is threatening them. Invading Ukraine has obviously been a giant miscalculation on his part, and now he must adjust.
He can’t “win” without increased destruction and harm to civilian populations and/or use of extraordinary weapons (WMDs). Of course, he is already carrying out indiscriminate and unlawful strikes and tactics. The world is essentially against his actions, and any increase in brutality and unlawful acts at this point will only further hurt Russia’s global image.
Suppose Ukraine can start striking into Moscow’s heart, especially with larger, more powerful, and destructive munitions. In that case, it will create more ‘justification’ for him to respond with increased brutality.
During his sit-down with Zelensky, Trump has already paved such a path. He warned Zelensky he couldn’t win, and he was outmatched. Suggesting he concede land and beg for peace.
Now, NATO has been forced to increase its efforts, and now Trump flips from, we should get out of NATO altogether, to we should now give more powerful long-range weapons to Ukraine AND it is (conveniently) leaked that he has been talking about striking Moscow and/or St. Pete.
We must remember the context. Trump, since his first term, has acted subservient and repeatedly cowed to Putin and his demands. He has also, despite all the recent changes of posture towards Russia, kept Russia LOUDLY and UNIQUELY protected from all the economic attacks he has directed at almost every other country in the world.
If he really was serious about helping Ukraine but did not want to increase the conflict, he would use the economic levers he had at his disposal.
I am starting to really fear that Russia is considering the use of a tactical nuke, and they want/need ‘justification’ to do so. In my opinion, this would be ‘good’ for the newly formed alliance of dictators because conflict increases the ability to enact greater domestic control. And, people are more likely to look towards ‘strongman’ leadership when threats of national security, etc., are imminent.
Trump’s response would be predictable: “Look, I warned Ukraine. They didn’t want to listen to me. They said they could win if only we had more weapons, etc. I gave them what they asked for, even after I warned them. What do you expect would happen? I think it was very stupid that Zelensky didn’t take the deal I negotiated for him – it was an excellent deal, by the way.”
