Somewhat “interesting” position to take I shouldn’t really be surprised when a “well known local personality” comes up with such ideas. However I am still gobsmacked when someone comes up with such pronouncements.

The fact that he’s happy to say this out loud should make any rational person wonder how many people must be thinking it. And _that_ should make any rational person realise why we can never trust the far right, no matter how much they clean up their language.

Auschwitz isn’t synonymous with “wooden huts” it’s known as a literal *death camp*. What is wrong with people?
This reminded me of something my mate told me years ago.
He was watching the news at his mum’s house, it was when we had all those migrants travelling across Europe (if you remember the footage of thousands of people running across train tracks, that was it).
They were sitting there quietly watching when suddenly his mum piped up and said;
His mum: “Well, what about all those empty warehouses?”
Mate: “What empty warehouses?”
His mum: “You know, the ones left over from the war.”
Mate: “…”
His mum: “You know, the ones in Poland.”
Mate: “Mum, are you talking about Auschwitz???”
His mum: “Well, they’re not being used, are they?”

It wasn’t the ovens that killed people – it was gas chambers and starvation.
If you want to be blunt, at least just say “We are being invaded, we need to set up POW camps to house people that are potentially hostile”

The ignorance of many people is shocking. Personally, I believe that all British schoolchildren should be sent on a mandatory visit to Auschwitz in the same way in which all German children are.

He is not even right, Birkenau had huts as it was build using old German modular stables. Auschwitz was established by the Germans in the former brick Polish army barracks.
On top of that, as the fella is in a wheelchair, he should read up on what his role models were doing with disabled people.

Literally the only concentration camp he can think of – There was 20+ in WW2 occupied Germany
Also ( if he’s staying in the WW2 era then perhaps the internment camps in the USA are more accurate. ( no ovens too )
If he wants to come more up to date then perhaps reference our shackle dragging brothers from the land down under and go with Offshore processing facilities in Nauru and Papua New Guinea.
