I have heard them and they are loud and annoying, I’m no nimby but I’d hate to live near them.
The purpose of having them in blanchardstown was to see if people could live with them and the noise.
And I guess the answer is no.
And human on an electric bike could do the same thing quieter and as fast

Even ignoring the noise, do we know how safe these are for transport?

I live in a housing estate and I face onto a major ring road. I just measured the noise right now, and it never hit 70 db. Probably a bit noisier during the day but the majorty of takeaway deliveries are probably not in the middle of the day.
Honestly, I’d be so annoyed if I had those things over my house all the time. It’s noisy, it’s invasive, and wildly unnecessary. I hope the planning in Blanch isn’t renewed. It sounds awful.

Drones in urban settings only work at low frequency usage by casual private users. Even at that there are numerous restrictions but it’s workable (or not too problematic) for the present; the more popular and accessible they are getting the worse the restrictions in place will become. Thinking of aerial photography and that type of thing.
Commercial delivery drones over housing estates is a non-runner and needs restrictions in place as soon as possible. Shouldn’t allow a whole industry to develop and then take action when it’s too late

Bit of a side note but has anyone else every seen your man who owns that companies twitter page, he’s forever hurling abuse at non government politicians, name calling and in general acting like a troll.
Doesn’t even try to hide it, all from his personal account linked to the company.
Comes across as a right dickhead

Profiteering by failing to pay wages to delivery riders.

Good, drone delivery is daft as fuck as far as ideas go and the noise off them is unreal.

I live in D15 and these are frequently over our estate. If it’s just the odd one it’s not too bad but at peak times it can be one after the other it can be annoying especially if landing near by as it means it’s hovering for a bit. There seems to be growing opposition to them as the novelty wears off.

Is there a genuine need for this service? I can get behind it as a service for urgent/critical purchases – medicines etc. beyond that I’m struggling with it.

Was watching Morning Ireland in tne staff room while on break (last week I think).
There was a guy from a drone delivery company being interviewed, and one thing that was a real “WTF?” moment for me was him talking about coffee deliveries. Like, people getting a batista made coffee drone delivered to their house?

Some genuine concerns such as noise sure, but most outrage over these drones is hysteria

I live in the delivery area. Really they aren’t that bad. I personally don’t really notice them as theres always some noise around here.
Once the initial novelty is over they aren’t coming around that much either, so your loss Dundrum, snobs.

I live near them, they’re no issue at all. There’s one person on my road who’s against them but they’re against fucking everything. Everyone else is fine with them. They operate out of the Blanchardstown centre and their landing site is nowhere near any houses. The noise from the road is louder. I am skeptical of the people complaining tbh.

Too lazy to cook or collect a takeaway, we are screwed as a species.

Huge local opposition to new development.
That is unusual

What if someone just takes it out of the sky?
