you could tell him he’s gonna get other gas for free and he’d still demand russian gas, because this isn’t really about any industry or households or whatever. After all, Czech Republic managed just fine without russian gas. And other countries too, obviously, but I could already see some vatnik coming in with “but they have access to sea and gas terminals!” or some other shit as usual, and Czech Republic is not only the country with the closest ties to Slovakia, but also has none of that sea access since like 600 years ago.

I understand Fico’s point. Slovakia needs gas and can’t just abandon Russian supplies.
In this situation it would maybe make sense to sit down with Slovakia and figure out how to deliver gas to them from other sources so that they have an alternative to Russian gas.
It would be naive to think that Slovak government doesnt have the plan for 2028… I think this is a facade to let the russians think that they still have some sort of influence in EU…
Why should the EU tell Slovakia who to import from? They’re grownups. Others import LNG and Uranium.
Tell him he can import it if he can do it without it going through an EU country. Which means convincing ukriane.

Why do we keep these contries with opposite values in – and even subsidize them???
Why can’t the other members just individually stop it. Like, yes, of course doing it through the EU would have been easier and better, but if Slovakia is the only member that does not want to, why not just implement it individually separate from the EU?
They should be kicked out from EU with Hungary. Then they can do whatever they want with the Russians.
So… time to block Slovakia access to EU funds?
