Has a PM ever suspended enough MPs they’ve lost their majority lol?

Jokes aside. This one is fully deserved. Consistently vile stuff comes out of Diane Abbott’s mouth.

    2. Cut-Minimum on

Well there’s absolutely nothing of substance in that article, but good. She’s forever been a joke, I have no idea how she became an MP.

    3. AveryLakotaValiant on

Blows my mind anyone voted for her, or how she’s held onto her positions for so long

      Vile, stupid person.

    4. denyer-no1-fan on

Labour has suspended 5 MPs in the past 2 days, there are now **398** Labour MPs, down from 411 about 12 months ago.

    5. willNffcUk on

At this point this is Diane Abbott being Diane Abbott lol

    6. UuusernameWith4Us on

I typed out “Diane will be popping champagne with this news I’m sure” but TBH I really think she doesn’t understand why what she said is unacceptable.

    7. Spare-grylls on

Well she got suspended when she made the comments in 2023, so I assume now that she’s re-invigorated her belief in her stance the only obvious escalation is to sack her…

It’s performative bullshit. She originally retracted her statement and apologised, so either that was shite or this is shite. Either way, she wants to be sacked so she can run off and form the ~~communist~~ socialist party

    8. TheGardenBlinked on

Is this a new set of chunterings or is it based on her allegedly saying she didn’t regret the last time she was let loose with her opinions?

I mean, by now, you’d cut the dead weight completely, surely. I guess there’s unfair dismissal, etc. But being a raging turnip over and over again has to carry some weight on sacking her outright

    9. welsh_cthulhu on

Genuinely one of the stupidest MPs who has ever managed to get themselves elected – from the shoe incident to the police salaries interview, and now this shitshow.

    10. Crumpetlust on

How is this possible abacus has based her whole career on calling everyone else racists?

    11. No-Potential-7242 on

She needs to go. She has a point about racism, but doesn’t know how to take constructive action. Like Corbyn, she still lives in the 1960s and 1970s. She has no understanding of modern technology or issues. She needs to go and make room for someone much younger with the energy and knowledge to make a difference.

Her supporters don’t seem to understand that political leadership is not a reward for being a victim or a friend or whatever. The electorate deserves representatives who understand what it is to serve. Abbott thinks she is owed her position and that isn’t fair on voters.

    12. Woody1872 on

She’s been a bumbling clown for years. Baffles me anyone ever voted for her.

    13. Its astonishing how such a trailblazing MP has shat on her own legacy so much in the last few years.

    14. She’s one of Jeremy Corbyn’s closest allies and 71 years old. I’d be very surprised if she sticks with Labour even if she’s cleared. Unlikely she wants to stand again and unlikely she is enjoying putting up with Starmer’s diet conservative agenda.

“Clearly, there must be a difference between racism which is about colour and other types of racism because you can see a Traveller or a Jewish person walking down the street, you don’t know.”

“I just think that it’s silly to try and claim that racism which is about skin colour is the same as other types of racism. I don’t know why people would say that.”

For those wondering what she said.

    16. Buddie_15775 on

She’s not made racist comments though, only trying to clarify what she said in that letter.

Still, this is the party that thinks criticism of mass genocide in the Middle East is offensive so…

    17. AngryTudor1 on

I once greatly admired Dianne Abbott, but not anymore.

I read her latest comments this morning, and while I am not a fan of hers, I honestly can’t see what she said in those comments to warrant another suspension

    18. GianfrancoZoey on

I’d love to see someone try and explain why what she said is anyway near as offensive as the antisemitic comments made by MPs like Luke Akehurst who got given a safe seat by Labour.

There’s more outrage within the public and media over her (somewhat poorly worded) comments than there is over our US ambassador being a close associate of Epstein and we all know exactly why that is.

      UK Reddit this week.

John Torode sacked = woke nonsense

Diane Abbott suspended = she had it coming

I wonder what the difference between these two people is?

    20. robbberry on

Dianne is a principled, moral, and effective MP. What she said is about her lived experience as a black woman in the UK.

GBNews brigade will tell you she’s racist, just because they live to call a woman of colour racist.

    21. sensiblestan on

Been reading the comments here and have not seen a single one yet talking about the actual linked article in question.

It’s very telling on who is posting in this thread and their pre-conceived biases.

    22. iplaybloodborne on

But isn’t it true that travellers and jews experience prejudices that are similar to racism? I don’t understand why her comments have got her suspended. I invite genuine responses – this was not rage bait. Is the issue that some people would see prejudice against travellers and antisemitism as racism? Or is it something else. Is it because she is conflating racism with ONLY being about skin colour? Or is it the comment about gingers (who dont have souls)? Thanks

    23. AspirationalChoker on

Haha about time, you know fine well she’ll be joining Corbyns commie party next.

    24. bastard_rabbit on

Whatever you think of Diane Abbott, there’s no Holocaust denial in her comments which one user is repeatedly claiming in the comments. Their claims are doing a disservice to real instances of Holocaust denial, and these instances will be taken less seriously if these accusations are used so frivolously.
