What you have in the picture to be fair 😂 I remember those playing cards and the bowls. My parents didn’t have either, but my grandparents had both and spent a lot of time there. Those bowls are used for Kompott ( East German slang ) for desert 😄 usually fruit salad or some sort of chocolate pudding ( which you call Custard ).
