Mi sono ritrovato a volare in giro per l’Albania su Google Earth quando ho notato rovine non contrassegnate.
Ho cercato di trovare alcune informazioni sul sito ma non ho avuto successo – è completamente vuoto … Non riesco a trovare nulla. Era illiro? Bizantino? Ottomano? Forte della Seconda Guerra Mondiale?
È tra Pukë, Lezhë e Shkodër. Ho persino messo le coordinate attraverso Chatgpt e Grok, ma non ho ancora nulla. Qualche idea?

Kalaja e Vigut (Kastrit) është njëra nga tri kalatë ushtarake romake në territorin shqiptar, me funksion ekonomiko-ushtarak. Ajo dallohet si ndër të paktat kala fushore, e ndërtuar para sulmeve barbare. Kështjella shërbente për ruajtjen e rrugëve tregtare, prandaj u ngrit ne rrugën që dikur ishte më e rëndësishmja rrugë ushtarako-tregtare, atë Lezhe- Nish, pikërisht në kryqëzimin që lidhte Shkodrën me Oroshin dhe Lezhë -Pukë -Prizren. Me kalimin e kohës, ky shteg u rrënua. Si toponim, Kalaja e Vigut njihet edhe si Kastri i Vigut dhe sipas historianëve shqiptarë e të huaj, ajo ka lidhje me vendlindjen e Skënderbeut, mbështetur në mbiemrin Kastrioti. Sipas tyre, aty ka jetuar babai i Skenderbeut, Gjon Kastrioti. Megjithatë, hulumtimet nuk mjaftojnë , por ka gjurmë se zona rreth saj ka qenë një zonë e rëndësishme, deri në shek. XVIII.

Doesn’t seem familiar. Wouldn’t be surprised if its some ancient building that has been forgotten/neglected. But need to see the ground view to confirm that. It may be a modern-ish but abandoned project too.
We have one of Europe’s oldest civilizations near a small town named Lin and it was only uncovered recently (2019). That has more historical implications so foreign archeological organizations are involved as well.
Random scattered ruins seldom get any attention, because unfortunately like many things, archeology is really underfunded here.

There doesn’t seem to be a Wikipedia article on this but I feel there should be – so I will make one. This should be a place to be remembered and respected. I will see if I can get permission to also post the photos on the Wikipedia page. If not, maybe I will go there and fly my drone over it to take some pictures of the site!
