It’s as though people think Politicians just don’t listen to them and their concerns and so think it’s not worth bothering to vote.

Some version of PR would be great. The problem is the winners never want to implement it.

I’m not sure I care if it is a party list system like in Germany or STV like in Ireland.

The latter is fascinating but takes an eternity to count but either will give much more proportional outcome.

Edit: it’d also shatter the two party system (I know this is kind of happening already but to a much greater extent) so more people could actually vote in line with their political beliefs rather than for a big tent.

    3. We really need to scrap FPTP. Otherwise you’re gonna end up with some proper whacky results if the vote is split between 5 (maybe 6 if Corbyns new party actually happens).

So much is made of winning votes from other parties and “swing” votes etc – and fair enough. But what we need to do is get people who don’t vote, to vote

Must confess I am still partial to MMPR. Allows you to keep local politicians but have PR

Low turnout? Given anyone who wants lower taxation / smaller state has no one credible to vote for, why bother voting?

The voting system is designed to keep two bad parties locked in at the top until they are both absolutely despised and removed from power 20 years after their natural expiry date

I’ll start voting as soon as I don’t have to pick between the lesser cunt
