IF INNOVATION AND new technology is embraced, Ireland has the potential to have one of the best health services in the world, former Health Minister Stephen Donnelly claimed today.
And when are we getting a children’s hospital?

What a clown, instead of using Irish negativity he should name the groups of people he really means

‘Taking risks’ is not what a health service should be doing. Let other sectors take the risks with broken AI. Don’t let it near people’s health until it safe. The AI companies simply want the most vulnerable aspects of people’s lives as their hostage.

I found it particularly laughable when he claimed that Ireland could become a leader in the use ofAI in healthcare. The vast majority of our hospitals don’t even have electronic healthcare records. The lab system in Beaumont is so old that no other hospital in the world is using it and the company that developed it said that they can no longer offer any technical support. There’s very little interoperability between the IT systems even within hospitals never mind between different hospitals.
